Uganda’s population is approximately twenty-eight million. Six million men & women have died due to HIV/AIDS leaving three million children orphaned and many widows lacking the resources to survive.
Many of these orphans are homeless and living on the streets. Others live in child-headed homes with older siblings having to care for younger brothers and sisters after the death of their parents. Others are taken in by friends and relatives even though they do not have the financial resources to provide adequate care.
Orphans and widows without anyone to protect them often become a target for abuse. In rural areas the children are also at risk of kidnapping by rebel groups, adding to the cycle of crime, poverty and violence.
ISAA has four key areas of project development which corresponds to each of our working principles CARE (Compassion, Action, Relief, and Empowerment):
C – Child Sponsorship Programs
A – Primary Health Care, Water & Sanitation Projects
R – Education & Vocational Training
E – Micro-Development and Enterprise Initiatives
Under these areas of operation ISAA establish and develop specific projects and programs such as animal husbandry and agricultural projects, community transport projects, children’s homes, community foster care programs, community and vocational training, health/medical centre, water and sanitation projects, micro-business schemes, internet cafe and computer training, and community disability support work.
We work in partnership with government authorities, various NGO’s and other ministries to bring about opportunities to the underprivileged, predominantly orphans, widows, single mothers, and families who are caring for orphans. ISAA provide opportunities for economic self-sufficiency from an individual level through to a communal level, attending to the source of poverty in an attempt to eradicate poverty.
Our focal point is in establishing projects and programs with greatest sustainability and self-sufficiency so as to avoid foreign aid dependency. We make an effort to work through various networks and mission agencies so as to provide pastoral care, support and practical help to project recipients.
All our actions reflect the principles of love, justice, mercy and faithfulness.
